I decided I would best serve others by acts of self-sacrifice. In a few short years, I was a lawyer defending the rights of battered women, rape victims, voiceless minorities, children, working class UNION folk, and defrauded employees. It was my comforting and therapeutic Oriental parfum. At the end of the day, the scent would still linger and I would feel it's balsam like a medicine for my fatigue and a boost to my confidence and self-esteem.Especially perfect for Fall and Winter, but I could see this being fine for Summer evenings, as well.
Opium remains a towering classic and will continue to be around for another 50 years when this will be the vintage. Instead of comparing the new to the old, I wonder how it stands on its own today.
Best to you A question that's been on my mind for quite some time is, "does the longevity and silage chart refer to the VINTAGE version of this perfume, or the NEW version? This is nice, definitely a 'heavy hitter' of a perfume, not weak at all. I am not usually a fan of heavy warm spicy frag's, but this one is blended so nicely that is is smoother to me than other warm spicy fragrances I have had or tried.
I was born into an affluent conservative Jewish family from New York City, a large family of mostly younger brothers who became accomplished career men: doctors, lawyers, professors and politicians.
I was the black sheep in the family as I was the oldest, the only female, and expected to be the first one to go to college and the first one to get married - into money.
When Opium came into my life, it changed everything.
Like a divine revelation, I was changing and growing up.Hillary Rodham, especially to such an unqualified and corrupt con man masquerading as a business tycoon. It opens with a mandarin and citrus scent, bergamot orange and coriander, fresh but spicy, peppery, very much like something out of a Middle Eastern or Arabic cologne. It has some floral notes in it, so despite the fact that this fragrance can be worn as a man's cologne, or unisex fragrance, it is feminine to me.Coffeex4: it is still a lot of grandiose and glorious oriental pageantry. But to answer your question about the new version, can you smell classic No. I hate when people say "the same but different", but that is how it is.My personal opinion on this is enjoy the new version and get the old version if you can.For me, contrary to today's kid's opinion on this "old mature fragrance classic from the 70's", this is a fragrance of my youth. NO one disliked Nixon more than I but as a Jewish upper-class girl, who had lived a comfortable life, it was not easy to jump into democratic altruism.
